Tea waffle recipe

Perfectly in time for the colder months, German blogger Janika (www.yanikas.de) told us her recipe for delicious tea waffles with the TEATOX Harmony Chai tea. Perfect for snowy nights at home or rainy Sunday mornings!

„On cold weekends in autumn there is just nothing better than a hot cup of tea and some homemade waffles. Since I’m a big tea lover I thought, hey, why not try baking something with it?

This is my tea waffles recipe – they are super easy to make and all you need in addition to the ingredients listed below, is a waffle iron and 2 tbsp of a spicy TEATOX tea. I chose the Harmony Chai, because it is not only very aromatic thanks to cinnamon, anise, ginger and cocoa, but also calms the gastrointestinal system. Even though this is not something we like to talk about, the health of this part of our body is vital – it helps us to get through those cold, stressful days, when you’ll easily catch a cold.

65g butter
75g flour
50g corn flour
½ tsp baking powder
60g sugar
1 egg
125ml milk

Melt the butter in a small pan on low heat, then add the tea and let simmer for a couple of minutes before letting it cool down. Mix the flour with corn flour, baking powder and sugar. Add the butter/tea mixture, egg and milk slowly while stirring the flour mixture with a mixer. Pour some tablespoons of the mixture in the hot and oiled waffle iron and leave until golden.

These waffles go perfect with a cup of tea on rainy days in autumn. Enjoy!”
